Abstract

Recompense, support, and resettlement strategy when the State repossesses land is a key provision of the Land Law 2024. Securing the livelihoods and social welfare of those whose land is taken must be a top priority, while still harmonizing the lawful rights and interests of the three parties involved: land users, the State, and project investors. Having just come into effect, the basic rules on recompense, support, and resettlement under the Land Law 2024 already guarantee the livelihoods of affected persons, accelerate land clearance for national security, defense, and socio-economic development in the public interest, and at the same time, resolve many of the previous bottlenecks in recompense, assistance, and resettlement that arose when the State repossessed land in recent years.
