Abstract
This article evaluates the current status of coherent speech development in 5 - 6 year old children at several preschools in Buon Ma Thuot Ward, Dak Lak Province. The results indicate that the children's language proficiency primarily achieves Good and Average levels. Although confident in dialogic communication, the children still encounter limitations in complex skills such as monologic expression, creative storytelling, and the use of compound sentences. The primary causes include a limited vocabulary, low self-esteem, and barriers stemming from their ethnic minority family backgrounds. Additionally, teachers do not frequently practice monologic speech with the children and still lack close collaboration with parents.
