Abstract

In the context of today's global integration, language teaching and learning have increasingly focused on communicative competence. However, in practice, language learners often lack fluency because they tend to concentrate more on grammar learning. Therefore, this study aims to broaden learners' knowledge of language use and enhance their understanding of the cultures of English-speaking countries. The findings can enrich language learners' repertoire regarding how to express compliments appropriately in specific contexts, helping them improve their understanding of the meaning, social values, and cultural significance of English communication across different cultures worldwide.
