Abstract

Speaking skill is one of the most important skills we learn, as they allow us to communicate with others and express our thoughts and feelings. Brown and Yuke (1983) say, ‘Speaking is the skill that the students will be judged upon most in real life situations’. In this article, the author introduces the concept and explores the importance of English speaking. At the same time, the article also mentions some current situations of teaching and learning speaking in Vietnam and proposes some tips for the students to use in their self-study process to improve their English speaking.
