Abstract

In the context of rapid digital transformation in higher education, online teaching and blended learning have increasingly become prevalent trends in educational institutions worldwide, including in Vietnam. However, the effective implementation of online teaching requires instructors to adopt pedagogical approaches that are well suited to the distinctive characteristics of digital learning environments. This article examines several fundamental features of online teaching in higher education and proposes practical principles for enhancing teaching effectiveness within blended learning models. The study is based on the analysis and synthesis of relevant literature on online teaching theories and instructors’ practical experiences. The findings suggest that maintaining instructor presence, designing learner-centered courses, enhancing visuality and interactivity, applying scaffolding strategies, and fostering a positive learning environment can significantly contribute to improving the quality of online teaching in higher education.
