Abstract
This article examines the requirement that Literature teaching be closely connected with real-life contexts, which is one of the key orientations of the 2018 Vietnamese Literature Curriculum. Teaching practice shows that many teachers still focus primarily on knowledge acquisition rather than guiding students to apply that knowledge in real-life situations. In Literature education—especially in reading comprehension, Vietnamese language, and writing instruction—it is essential for teachers to design learning activities that help students relate the humanistic messages of literary works to their own lives and personal experiences. Based on classroom practice and the demands of the 2018 curriculum, the article proposes several life-oriented teaching methods aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and quality of Literature instruction. The findings clarify the need to connect Literature teaching with real life and offer useful implications for teachers and educational administrators in effectively implementing the 2018 Literature Curriculum, particularly regarding teaching methodology and the assessment of student learning outcomes.
