Abstract

In the context of global digital transformation, digital competence has become a key factor determining students' success in their academic pursuits and future careers. This paper focuses on researching the current status of digital competence among first-year students at Thuyloi University, based on the European Commission's DigComp 2.2 digital competence framework. The study evaluates five core competence areas: (1) Information and data literacy, (2) Communication and collaboration, (3) Digital content creation, (4) Safety, and (5) Problem-solving. The results indicate that first-year students have a good awareness of the importance of digital competence and a strong sense of information security; however, their creative skills and practical problem-solving abilities using technology remain limited. Based on the collected data, the paper proposes a set of synchronized solutions to enhance digital competence, helping students better adapt to the 4.0 labor market.
