Abstract

The sociocultural context of the 1986–2025 period significantly influenced the use of musical elements in Vietnamese children’s poetry, with rhyme and rhythm serving as its principal components. Genre interaction is understood as a process through which different forms and genres of children’s poetry influence and permeate one another, giving rise to works with new hybrid characteristics. Musicality functions as a bridge that enables narrative and descriptive elements to be incorporated into children’s poetry, thereby enriching its structure, renewing its poetic voice, and enhancing its appeal to young readers. Through an analysis of musical elements, this article examines the organizational and genre-transformative roles of musicality in Vietnamese children’s poetry during the Đổi mới era.
