Abstract

This article examines the effectiveness of warm-up activities in English lessons. It first highlights the benefits of using warm-ups, such as increasing student interest, creating a welcoming atmosphere, enhancing participation, and capturing learners’ attention. The article also provides an overview of warm-up activities, including guiding principles and illustrative examples. To support these points, a survey and in-depth interviews were conducted with English-majored students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology to evaluate the role and usefulness of warm-ups in English teaching and learning. The findings indicate that incorporating warm-up activities benefits both teachers and students.
