Abstract

In order to enhance the effectiveness of English teaching and learning for non-English-major students, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has implemented the English Discoveries program, developed by IIG Vietnam in collaboration with the Educational Testing Service (ETS), based on a blended learning model since October 2022. This paper aims to provide an overview of the blended learning model, describe the structure of the five-module English program, and analyze the benefits and challenges arising from its implementation. The findings indicate that the blended learning model contributes to increased flexibility, promotes learner autonomy, and effectively supports students’ preparation for the TOEIC examination. However, several limitations related to content design, technical infrastructure, and students’ learning habits remain. Based on these findings, the paper proposes several recommendations to further improve the program and enhance the effectiveness of its implementation in the future.
