Abstract
Probation is an important stage during which parties to an employment relationship become acquainted and assess their mutual suitability for the job and working environment. This article analyzes Japanese labor law provisions on probation and identifies their notable strengths. On that basis, it draws lessons that Vietnam may consider when improving its labor law system generally and its probation regulations specifically, with the aim of fostering a harmonious, stable, and sustainable labor market.
