Abstract

Examining how a society educates and trains legal professionals provides valuable insights into the operation of its legal system. The transition from a legal system relying primarily on statutory law to one that recognizes multiple sources of law, including the law-making role of courts, requires corresponding changes in legal education, particularly a shift from traditional teaching methods toward greater use of case law and the case method. This article examines the theoretical foundations of using case law in legal education, reviews selected models of case- based legal education in the United States, France, and China, and draws lessons and proposes solutions for Vietnam in the current context. The study is limited to undergraduate legal education.
