Abstract

This article analyzes and compares historical and cultural sources to clarify the nature of Vietnam–China cultural relations from the perspective of acculturation. It argues that the similarities between Vietnamese and Chinese cultures are primarily the result of long-term interaction and processes of cultural exchange and adaptation, whereas their fundamental structural differences stem from indigenous factors, including natural conditions, wet-rice agricultural practices, and the autonomous village structure of Vietnamese society. The study also identifies certain limitations in current history and cultural education that may lead learners to conflate cultural influence with cultural homogenization. On that basis, the article proposes pedagogical solutions regarding content, learning materials, and teaching methods to improve educational quality, foster comparative and critical thinking, and strengthen learners’ awareness of cultural identity.

Keywords: Chinese culture, cultural acculturation, cultural identity, history and cultural education, Vietnamese culture.
