Abstract
The use of English as a medium of instruction (EMI) has become a growing global trend together with the globalization and internationalization of higher education (HE) in all educational settings. Recently, many HE institutions in Asia have offered EMI undergraduate programs to attract both domestic and foreign students despite rising concerns about lecturers’ and students’ insufficient English proficiency. This paper aims to investigate the status quo and challenges in using English as a medium of instruction in HE in Asia and propose some solutions to overcome those challenges in EMI teaching and learning at HE institutions in Vietnam.
