Abstract

In the 2018 Language and Literature curriculum, the thematic unit “Exploring an Artistic Adaptation of a Literary Work” (Grade 12) clearly re(ects the orientation toward integrating literature with other art forms in literature teaching. Since the expected learning outcomes require in-depth knowledge related to art forms beyond literature, which are often unfamiliar to students’ ordinary experiences, eKective learning of this thematic unit requires students to engage in both cognitive and practical experiential activities in order to understand the nature of the adaptation process of literary works. This article proposes several approaches to organizing experiential activities corresponding to the main contents of the thematic unit. These measures aim to achieve the objectives of the thematic unit while promoting students’ active, proactive, and “co-creative” roles in the reception and creation of artistic works, thereby inspiring career orientations related to the social sciences and the arts.
