Abstract
This paper introduces a practical application of ChatGPT – a language model developed by OpenAI – in designing an integrated STEM teaching unit for 4th-grade Science titled "Shadow Puppet Theater." The study outlines a project-based learning process that leverages ChatGPT to assist teachers in identifying learning outcomes, designing instructional activities, selecting appropriate materials, composing storytelling scripts, and developing assessment tools. Through a series of optimized prompts, ChatGPT demonstrates its potential as an educational assistant, enhancing lesson creativity and effectiveness. The findings from classroom implementation suggest that the AI-supported STEM design fosters student engagement, collaboration, and competency development, aligning with the competency-based education model introduced in Vietnam's 2018 General Education Curriculum.
