Abstract

Motivation is one of the key factors in successful teaching and learning. While learners may have an intrinsic desire to learn, their motivation is also greatly influenced by external factors, especially teachers. As facilitators of learning, teachers play a vital role in creating a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages learners to participate actively and achieve better learning outcomes. Although teachers cannot control every aspect of learner motivation, they can use various teaching strategies to stimulate, maintain and enhance learner motivation. Therefore, this paper provides an overview of learner motivation, its main types, the transformation of teachers’ role in education and recommendations for teachers in promoting learner motivation in the learning process.
