Abstract

The trumpet is one of the most important brass instruments in the modern symphony orchestra, distinguished by its bright, powerful timbre and strong projection. In military music, it holds a special position due to its historical association with military bands, ceremonies, and martial traditions. Through an examination of two representative performances by the Army Symphony Orchestra, Sounds Under the Sunlight and Symphony of the Nation, this study clarifies the role of the trumpet in musical organization and artistic expression. The findings reveal that the trumpet not only contributes to creating a majestic and epic soundscape but also serves as an aural symbol of the soldier, patriotism, and the cultural identity of the Vietnam People's Army within the context of contemporary symphonic art.
