Abstract
The defense counsel plays an important role in defending, presenting arguments, and providing grounds to defend the accused towards exoneration or reduction of criminal liability. The implementation of criminal procedure law in a socialist rule-of-law state requires the application and enforcement of the law to ensure compliance with the Constitution and the law, as well as to respect and protect human rights and civil rights. The article focuses on clarifying how the role of the defense counsel is reflected in criminal procedure law enforcement and proposes some recommendations to further enhance the role of defense counsel in criminal procedure law.
