Abstract

In the context of the ongoing reform of general education toward the development of students’ qualities and competencies, the application of active teaching techniques in mathematics education has received increasing attention. This paper investigates the use of the Gallery Walk teaching technique in teaching the topic of Cylinder in Grade 9 Mathematics. Based on an analysis of the characteristics of the Gallery Walk technique and the content of the Cylinder topic in the Grade 9 Mathematics curriculum, the study proposes instructional approaches such as organizing exhibition stations for students’ learning products and integrating online games to create opportunities for students to exchange ideas, engage in discussions, and defend their viewpoints. The findings indicate that the application of the Gallery Walk teaching technique enhances students’ learning interest, promotes their active participation, and creates a favorable environment for developing mathematical communication competency. The study confirms the feasibility of applying this teaching technique in teaching the topic of Cylinder in Grade 9 Mathematics.
