Abstract
Learning games are an active teaching method that enhances learning motivation, promotes students’ active participation, and supports the development of natural science competency. This study investigates the current situation of applying learning games in teaching science to 4th-grade students in Can Tho City. A questionnaire-based survey was administered to primary school teachers, and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings indicate that the majority of teachers acknowledge the significant role of learning games in developing students' natural science competency. However, the practical implementation still encounters numerous challenges due to limitations in game design skills, instructional time, learning resources, and assessment methods. These findings provide an empirical basis for future research on pedagogical innovations aimed at fostering students' natural science competency.
