Abstract

This paper proposes and develops a “Digital Heritage in Modern Design” (DHMD) model to optimize the utilization of Vietnamese folk art resources in undergraduate graphic design programs. In the context of globalization, preserving and promoting national cultural identity through contemporary design language is becoming an urgent requirement. Experimental results show that the DHMD model not only helps students improve their technical skills but also creates a fundamental shift in creative thinking - from superficial copying to understanding and adapting heritage. The study also points out barriers related to data systems and a lack of connection between schools and artists, and proposes solutions to build a sustainable creative ecosystem, contributing to affirming the identity of Vietnamese graphic design in the international design market.
