Abstract

The fast-paced development of artificial intelligence (AI) not only poses challenges to intellectual property (IP) law in terms of legislation but also profoundly impacts traditional ethical values. This is particularly evident in East Asian countries, where moral standards have been shaped and cultivated over centuries upon the foundations of major philosophies such as Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. Through an analysis of the characteristics of East Asian ethics and the implications of IP protection for AI, this article proposes legal orientations aimed at ensuring a balance: fostering scientific and technological innovation while firmly safeguarding the humanistic values and core ethical foundations of society.
