Abstract

The Báo Bản Festival of Nộn Khê Village is a representative element of Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritage, closely associated with the history of land reclamation, village establishment, and the formation of the Nộn Khê community. Through its ritual practices and traditional folk activities, the festival contributes to educating younger generations about the tradition of gratitude toward ancestors and predecessors, strengthening community solidarity, and preserving the cultural identity of the Northern Vietnamese countryside. Using a combination of documentary research and fieldwork, this article analyzes the festival’s cultural values and assesses the current state of its preservation and promotion. The findings indicate that although the festival has been inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and continues to play an important role in community life, it still faces several challenges, particularly in its integration into cultural tourism. Based on these findings, the article proposes solutions to preserve the festival’s authenticity, enhance the role of the local community as the primary heritage bearer, and promote the sustainable development of cultural tourism through heritage conservation.
