Abstract

Self-directed learning competence is an essential individual capacity that can be developed through learning and practice in educational settings. Rather than remaining fixed, this competence can be continually strengthened through appropriate guidance, timely support, and regular practice. Its development promotes students’ autonomy, independent thinking, and creativity in learning. In the context of current educational reform, self-directed learning competence is particularly important for students at Hanoi Architectural University, who must continually update their knowledge in response to rapid advances in science and technology. Accordingly, this article examines and proposes several pedagogical strategies for developing students’ self-directed learning competence through the use of real-world problems when teaching the Laplace transform in the Advanced Mathematics course.
