Abstract

This study evaluates common foreign language teaching methods, including grammar–translation, the direct method, Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), and technology-assisted learning. Using a mixed- methods design involving a survey of 200 learners and interviews with 20 teachers, the findings indicate that CLT combined with modern technology is the most effective approach for developing practical language competence. This integration promotes learner-centered instruction, authentic language use, autonomy, creativity, and diverse learning experiences while supporting educational innovation in the digital era. However, its effective implementation depends on teachers’ digital competence, adequate technological infrastructure, natural classroom interaction, and appropriate time management. The study therefore supports an integrated model that combines the communicative principles of CLT with digital technologies to enhance foreign language teaching and learning.
