Abstract

Eastern Ninh Hoa possesses diverse cultural values associated with coastal communities, yet these resources remain underutilized in homestay development. Using analysis, synthesis, comparison, and SWOT analysis, this study identifies the foundations for and proposes a locally appropriate homestay model linked to coastal community culture. The findings indicate that marine livelihoods, folk knowledge, Whale worship, the Cau Ngu Festival, coastal village spaces, cuisine, and community life constitute important but fragmented and poorly connected resources. Accordingly, the study proposes a six-component model comprising: (1) cultural resources and coastal village spaces; (2) community stakeholders and participating households; (3) homestay spaces integrated with experiential activities; (4) cultural products and experiences; (5) coordination, partnership, and service provision mechanisms; and (6) markets, communication, and digital platforms. The model aims to promote cultural values, support community livelihoods, and contribute to sustainable tourism development.
