Abstract

This study explores similarities and differences between idioms in English and Vietnamese to clarify how these cultural expressions reflect the values, beliefs, and social experiences of each culture. By analyzing selected idioms, the paper focuses on linguistic features, cultural contexts, and underlying meanings. It examines not only linguistic structures but also the cultural content represented by idioms. The findings show that although many shared cultural values are conveyed through idioms, significant differences arise from the historical and social contexts of each language. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of idioms in intercultural communication.
