Abstract

In the context of international integration, Đờn ca tài tử of Southern Vietnam represents an important element of Vietnam’s intangible cultural heritage and serves as a significant medium for international cultural exchange. Its growing international presence has been facilitated by its distinctive artistic values, UNESCO recognition, government policies, and the dedication of generations of artists and practitioners. International engagement with Đờn ca tài tử takes various forms, including artistic performances, cultural exchange programmes, and scholarly research. These activities contribute to enhancing Vietnam’s national image, developing its cultural industries, and promoting tourism. Nevertheless, the heritage faces several challenges, including limited financial and human resources, commercialization, competition from contemporary forms of entertainment, and language barriers in international communication. Comprehensive and coordinated measures are therefore required to safeguard its core values, promote its cultural significance, and strengthen Vietnam’s cultural presence internationally.
