Abstract

This study assesses the current state of teamwork skills education for children aged 5–6 through learning activities at preschools in Tien Lu Commune, Phu Tho Province. A survey of 15 educational administrators and 80 teachers indicated that teachers demonstrated a moderate awareness of the importance of teamwork skills education (M = 3.00/5). The children performed well in compliance-related behaviors, particularly “task performance” (M = 3.96) and “task acceptance” (M = 3.93), but showed considerable limitations in more complex skills such as “conflict resolution” (M = 2.48). Regarding educational organization, “providing children with opportunities to listen and express their opinions” received the highest rating among educational contents (M = 3.81), while “task-based group learning” was the most frequently employed organizational form (M = 4.03). By contrast, “instruction in collaboration skills” (M = 2.07) and “collective work activities” (M = 2.78) remained limited. Notably, the conflict-intervention method of “resolving conflicts” received a high rating (M = 4.28), whereas the foundational method of “communication and active listening” was rated considerably lower (M = 2.63). Based on these findings, the study proposes measures to improve the effectiveness of teamwork skills education for preschool children.
