Abstract

This study examines the current state of social skills and the need to implement social-emotional learning (SEL) among 217 students participating in student clubs at Phu Yen University. Quantitative findings indicate that students demonstrate strengths in empathy and compliance with social norms (M = 4.13) but report lower levels of self-confidence and leadership competence (M = 2.53). In addition, more than 80% of participants expressed a strong need for regular social-skills training through the monthly integration of SEL into student- club activities. Based on these findings, the study proposes incorporating the SEL model into club activities as a form of scaffolding to help students strengthen their adaptability, self-confidence, and proactive engagement in the university environment.
