Abstract

In the context of the digital transformation of higher education in Vietnam, the integration of information technology (IT) into English language teaching has become an urgent requirement for improving training quality and meeting foreign language output standards. This article analyzes the theoretical and practical foundations for applying IT in English language teaching at Electric Power University (EPU), a technical higher education institution whose students are mostly non-English majors. Based on a literature review, practical surveys, and contextual analysis, the study proposes several IT-based models and solutions, including learning management systems (LMS), the flipped classroom model, blended learning, the application of artificial intelligence (AI), the use of learning analytics, and the development of digital learning materials tailored to the electricity and energy sectors. The findings indicate that well-oriented, synchronized implementation aligned with the characteristics of engineering students can enhance learning motivation, self-directed learning ability, and the effective use of English in professional contexts.
