Abstract
Pedagogical communication and interaction competence is a core component of teachers’ professional competence, particularly at the primary education level. This study aims to investigate the current state of pedagogical communication and interaction competence among students majoring in Primary Education, thereby providing a scientific basis for improving teacher education programs. The research was conducted with 300 students through a questionnaire survey, combined with descriptive statistical analysis and qualitative data obtained from open-ended questions and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that students demonstrate strengths in direct communication with pupils but still face limitations in broader professional interactions, such as handling pedagogical situations and cooperating with pupils’ parents. The study highlights the need to strengthen practice-oriented training in order to develop students’ pedagogical communication and interaction competence in a more comprehensive manner.
