Abstract

In the context of Vietnam’s continued development of a socialist rule-of-law state, the legal framework governing legal aid plays an important role in ensuring access to justice for vulnerable groups. This article analyzes Vietnam’s legal provisions on legal aid, assesses their practical implementation, and identifies shortcomings concerning eligibility for legal aid, access to legal aid services, available resources, and coordination and oversight mechanisms. Based on these findings, the article proposes recommendations for improving the legal framework and strengthening its implementation to ensure effective access to justice for vulnerable groups in Vietnam.
