Abstract
This study examines the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on university students from the 1970s to the present. Positively, AI supports lecturers in optimizing instruction, enhancing interaction, and improving assessment processes. It also strengthens students’ learning capacity and independent research skills, expands opportunities for blended and online learning, and fosters more effective teamwork—particularly benefiting students at Hanoi University of Architecture. However, the study also highlights challenges, including learner passivity, unverified AI-generated information, concerns about academic integrity, and the rigid, emotion- less, and culturally limited nature of machine-produced outputs. Excessive dependence on technology further threatens students’ autonomy in learning. The study emphasizes the necessity of identifying appropriate solutions to minimize negative impacts. Achieving a balanced integration of technology and human values will shape the future success of education.
