Abstract

To achieve its present form, the Vietnamese women's Ao Dai has evolved through various design trends, shaped by diff erent aesthetic perspectives and cultural infl uences. This paper examines three prominent historical Ao Dai design trends and focuses on researching and analyzing key current trends. The study highlights distinctive features of two major trends: the traditional restoration and preservation Ao Dai, and the innovative, practical Ao Dai, in terms of silhouette, materials, colors, patterns, and decorative details. The research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the Ao Dai's potential, adaptability, and enduring vitality in the fashion industry, while affi rming its position in the global contemporary fashion landscape.
