Abstract
The uniform Physical Education programs currently implemented in universities have not fully addressed the diversity of students’ abilities and needs, especially those with athletic talent and a strong interest in sports. This article proposes a five-step process for developing an advanced sports program that is flexible, learner- centered, and capable of continuous improvement. The process was applied in designing and piloting advanced Volleyball and Badminton programs at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, with the participation of 41 male students who trained over two phases, each lasting 12 weeks. The results showed that students’ general physical fitness, specialized technical skills, and sports professional competencies improved significantly. The final survey indicated that most students were satisfied with the program design, instructors, and learning outcomes. The proposed process can serve as a reference for developing advanced sports programs in universities.
