Abstract
This study investigates the eKectiveness of integrating 5-7 minute short sitcom clips into speaking classes for non- major English students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Using a mixed-methods action research design, the study measures changes in (uency, accuracy, con'dence, and engagement of learners. The 'ndings reveal that short sitcoms provide authentic linguistic and cultural contexts while signi'cantly reducing foreign language anxiety. Moreover, the 5-7 minute duration serves as an 'optimal zone' that maintains high concentration without causing cognitive overload. Based on these results, a four-stage framework is proposed to optimize short-form audiovisual materials in large classrooms.
