Abstract
Unarmed combat training plays an important role in the People’s Public Security martial arts curriculum by developing cadets’ ability to apply martial arts techniques in scenarios resembling real-world law enforcement and operational situations. However, when instruction is limited to repetitive technical drills or free sparring without a structured system of appropriate scenarios, cadets may have difficulty translating acquired techniques into practical situation-handling skills. This article therefore proposes the use of selected unarmed combat scenarios in teaching People’s Public Security martial arts to cadets at the People’s Police Academy. Scenario-based training is expected to improve cadets’ ability to select and apply appropriate techniques, respond flexibly to complex situations, and enhance the practical effectiveness of martial arts instruction.
