Abstract
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI (GenAI) models, has brought about profound changes in the learning and research activities of university students. At Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), students represent one of the groups that have early and extensively adopted AI in their academic practices. This study aims to assess the current state of AI use among VNU students and identify the ethical issues arising from such usage. Data were collected from a survey of 746 students across various academic disciplines, focusing on levels of AI use, purposes of use, perceptions of AI, and behaviors that may pose risks of violating academic integrity. Based on the findings, the study proposes several orientations to promote ethical AI use within higher education settings.
