Abstract

This study assesses the current status of and proposes solutions for improving learning outcomes in the Basic Football course among English Language students of the 2024 cohort at Tay Nguyen University. The findings indicate that although the university’s facilities generally meet basic instructional requirements, their capacity accommodates only approximately 50% of the student population. Moreover, several facilities have deteriorated because of intensive use and insufficient maintenance funding. The physical education lecturers are highly qualified and experienced, with 75% holding master’s degrees and 25% holding doctoral degrees; however, they face difficulties in regularly participating in professional development activities. Regarding learning outcomes, 38.33% of the students achieved a Good grade and 20% achieved an Excellent grade, while 16.67% were classified as Weak. The primary factors associated with poor performance were a lack of interest in the course (35%) and difficulties in acquiring motor skills (20%). To address these limitations, the study proposes six coordinated groups of solutions, with particular emphasis on strengthening students’ learning motivation, improving teaching methods, and promoting extracurricular practice.
