Abstract
This article analyzes the application of the Engineering Design Process (EDP) in organizing creative art activities for 5-6-year-old children at two public preschools in Long Nguyen Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, involving surveys of 26 teachers; interviews with two administrators, one professional team leader, and teachers; observations of six activities; and an analysis of nine creative art activity plans. The results indicate that while teachers have begun to adopt the EDP, implementation remains inconsistent and focuses primarily on the product-making stage; the steps involving problem identification, testing, and improvement are limited. Based on these findings, the article proposes solutions to support teachers in organizing creative art activities using the EDP, emphasizing professional development, the creation of environments featuring open-ended materials, and the use of EDP identification criteria during professional development sessions.
