Abstract

This article examines the application of experiential learning methods in teaching the text “Bài học đường đời đầu tiên” (Grade 6 Literature), excerpted from Dế Mèn phiêu lưu ký by Tô Hoài. In line with the competency- and quality-based orientation of Vietnam’s 2018 General Education Curriculum, the paper proposes forms of experiential activities such as role-playing, group discussion, scenario-based tasks, and connections to real-life situations. This approach enables students to actively construct knowledge, develop a deeper understanding of the text’s content and artistic values, and draw lessons on appropriate behavior and personal responsibility. The findings indicate that experiential learning increases learning motivation and supports the development of reading comprehension, communication, and self-awareness competencies among Grade 6 students, thereby improving the effectiveness of Literature teaching at the lower secondary level.
