Abstract

This study investigates the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching the Natural and Social Sciences curriculum for first-grade students to foster scientific competencies under the 2018 General Education Program. Using a mixed-methods design, data were collected through a survey of 43 first-grade teachers in Can Tho City and in-depth interviews at Ngo Quyen Primary School. Findings indicate that AI is currently used primarily for visual aids. The study establishes a structured framework, behavioral indicators, and actionable strategies for implementing AI in instructional design and formative assessment to enhance students' scientific competencies.
