Abstract
This study develops an assessment tool to evaluate the scientific competence of grade 3 in the topic “Humans and Health” within the Science and Society curriculum. Aligned with contemporary educational theories and Vietnam’s 2018 General Education Program, the research establishes a theoretical foundation and proposes a structured process for designing tools such as checklists, rubrics, and open-ended tasks. Based on field surveys conducted at several primary schools in Da Nang and teaching experiments through two specific lessons, the study not only aims to enhance the accuracy of assessing students’ scientific competence but also contributes to fostering scientific thinking, the ability to apply knowledge in real-life contexts.
