Abstract
Rapid urbanization in Nghệ An is posing significant challenges to the conservation of Buddhist architectural heritage, an important component of the region’s cultural identity. Drawing on field surveys and published sources, this article assesses the deterioration, encroachment, and alteration of ancient Buddhist temples under the pressures of urban development. It also examines challenges related to public awareness, heritage management, technical expertise, and financial resources. On this basis, the article proposes comprehensive directions and measures for sustainably conserving and promoting Buddhist architectural heritage while balancing the preservation of cultural identity with the demands of contemporary development.
