Abstract

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) and Vietnam's Law on Children (2016) both affirm that the right to participation is one of the fundamental rights of children. In early childhood education, play activities provide a favorable environment for children to exercise their right to participation and promote their role as active agents in the educational process. This article focuses on the manifestations of the participation rights of 5-6-year-old children in play activities from a process-oriented approach, including: negotiation before play, participation during play, and reflection at the end of play. Thereby, the article provides a reference basis for organizing play activities in a manner that respects and ensures children's participation rights. This approach not only contributes to improving the quality of early childhood education but also reflects a humanistic educational perspective that values and empowers children.
