Abstract

Rhetorical devices constitute an important component of the Vietnamese language curriculum at the primary school level. They enable pupils to use Vietnamese in vivid, figurative, and expressive ways, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of communication and writing. Therefore, improving primary education students’ ability to use Vietnamese rhetorical devices is a key aspect of teacher education. This improvement helps students acquire a sound foundation of subject-specific knowledge and develop the professional competencies required for their future teaching careers. Drawing on linguistic theory and practical evidence, this article identifies several issues in primary education students’ use of Vietnamese lexical-semantic rhetorical devices and proposes measures to enhance their effective application.
