Abstract

This study investigates the current situation of artificial intelligence (AI) application in Chinese language learning among first- and second-year Chinese language majors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (HUFLIT). Using quantitative and qualitative methods with 220 students, the study examines usage levels, purposes, and students’ perceptions of AI in Chinese learning. The findings show that AI has become a common learning tool, with most students reporting positive effects such as saving time, improving learning efficiency, and increasing learner autonomy. The study also notes risks of overdependence, inaccurate information, and reduced linguistic thinking if AI is overused.

Keywords: AI, Chinese language, learning effectiveness.
