Abstract

The Documents of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam establish “strategic autonomy” as a new focal point in the nation’s development thinking. This concept continues the Party’s principles of independence, self-reliance, and self-strengthening while reflecting an advancement in strategic awareness amid a fragmented world marked by intense competition and intertwined risks. The article clarifies the connotations, innovations, and guiding significance of strategic autonomy in the Documents of the 14th National Congress. It also identifies and refutes hostile and distorted viewpoints on this issue, thereby affirming that safeguarding and properly disseminating the Party’s strategic autonomy thinking contributes to protecting the Party’s ideological foundation, defending the country’s development path, and safeguarding national interests in the new era.
